Everybody Hates Chris… or is it just me?
A lot of people have been talking about Chris Brown these past couple of days I figured I'd chime in with my view on things. No, I'm not going to add to the debate questioning the sincerity of his tears during this Michael Jackson tribute at the B.E.T awards.
But if someone were to ask me, I'd say they were real. Because in my opinion Chris Brown is truly a sad individual.
As displayed in his show stopping tribute, his talent is undeniable (his moonwalk could use some work though). While I can recognize this, I can not respect him as a person.
Any man who would do this to his woman absolutely disgusts me.
It doesn't matter who it was, this is not coming from scorned a Rihanna. Just a man who believes in respect. The way that Chris handled the situation did not earn my forgiveness in any way. It was painfully obvious that we was only talking the steps to look positive in the public eye and save his career.
In his return in a few short months after the violent outburst he came back with a more bad boy image and one of his first lyrics in his return featured on the song "Drop it Low" was "put my hands on your body". All of this was like an insult to injury as he showed no indication that he should go any further to redeem himself.
If he donated to a battered womans charity or did a Breast Cancer walk I would have the slightest amount of respect for him. But instead I see him as the most pathetic vermin with a microphone in hand.
The bigger problem isn't Chris though, it's the fans, it's the public. It's the hormone driven female so caught up in his celebrity and so eager to forgive that they would accept his bullshit apologies and go buy his albums. Would they be so forgiving if they we the one's left with their face beaten that night? I certainly hope not. But with the things I've seen girls do and say, I'm sad to say that I'm not sure.
This much is certain though. If I ever make a mistake, hold me accountable. Don't let me off easy like this little punk. I am a man who will take responsibility for his actions and I will not accept your forgiveness until it is earned.
American society as a whole has an attention span that's way too short. When something is wrong it needs to be addressed and not let go until it is resolved. If we fail to do this we are only doomed to repeat the same consequences. We just sent the message that you can beat your woman and in a year everything will be ok. Are you proud of this America?
All you ladies mindlessly screaming for Chris Brown, try screaming at him. Maybe he'll learn something. He's hasn't looked at the "man" in the mirror hard enough.

I LOVE summer in New York City, partly because of all of the live music I get to catch. This month alone I have already seen Janelle Monae, Erykah Badu, Sever The Means, The Roots (with surprise guests Money Makin' Jam Boys, Joss Stone, Bilal, Freeway, Dry Eye and others), Talib Kweli (with surprise guests Pharoahe Monch, Estelle and Red Cafe) Common, and Gil Scott Heron (with surprise guest Common) these have all been amazing shows and it been a tradition all my life to go to as many concerts as possible every summer. Long Live The King
It's absolutely bizarre to realize the world has gone on an entire year without one of the greatest entertainers to ever live.
Michael Joseph Jackson, the King of Pop left us with a legacy comparable to few.
I'm pretty sure I'll remember that day vividly for the rest of my life. I was personally having a great day. I had gotten my iPhone earlier that morning and it was the day my little sister was graduating High School. On the way to the ceremony the song "Off The Wall" came on the radio. We turned the volume all the way up and jammed out on the highway singing along and dancing in the car seats. By the end of the day that would be my favorite Michael Jackson song because that was the last time I got to enjoy the music without the slightest sadness. Within the hour after that moment the King would be gone. After my sisters commencement we went to dinner. My appetizer was interrupted by a distraught text message sent from one of my best friends who may be the biggest fan of Michael that I know. He informed me that he had heard from his mother that Michael had passed. I thought, "Nah, couldn't be". I then decided to investigate and utilize my newly obtained technology. The vast majority of credible news sources were only reporting his hospitalization. I was worried but relieved. However, while on a short trip to the bathroom in the crowded Cheesecake Factory I overheard six separate conversations which began "did you hear Michael Jackson died?" Bad news travels fast.
I was no longer able to obtain updates on the situation as I had exhausted my iPhone battery power in the first day bliss prior to the news. It became more real as other members of our party began to receive text messages. I slowly began to embrace the possibility. As we exited we were encountered with the awful truth. The televisions in the bar area mocked the last bit of optimism that I had left. CNN on the screen, the headline: "Michael Jackson dead at 50" I stared at the screen, trying to absorb the impossible news. at that moment I realized, I had forgotten he was mortal.
Why would he be mortal to me? By the time I came into existence he had already redefined what a pop star could be. He had already broken records and taken over the charts. By the time I was born he was already an icon, he was already the King of Pop.
Much of my youth was spent discovering his music, the music he was producing at the time and his already extensive catalog. Looking back I'm actually surprised at how easily I accepted the idea that this pale man with the small nose was once the small dark child with the Afro singing with his brothers. Maybe it was the fact that the talent made it undeniable. One thing is for sure, at every step of my introduction to Michael I was absolutely awe struck.
From the first time I witnessed the Moonwalk to cheering him on in "Smooth Criminal" and the first time I was scared out of my mind watching the epic "Thriller" video. He was amazing. Unfortunately, in the middle of this experience of discovering the master, my image of him would be altered as the infamous allegations surfaced. Too young to be capable of a psycho analyzation I was slightly swayed by the vicious attacks by the media. Just the consideration of what he was accused of frightened me, I was a little boy myself at the time after all.
As I grew older I came to better understand Michael. No, he wasn't "normal" by the standards of certain people but that was part of the reason why he was larger than life to me. That was one of the reasons that I had forgotten that he was mortal. Honestly, I think anyone put in his place would have come out with similar issues in their adulthood. I know if I was THAT rich and THAT famous from such a young age I'd do some strange things without giving it a second thought. While he missed out on certain freedoms of childhood most of us got to experience, he had a kind of freedom few of us could understand. In his adulthood he attempted to reconstruct the childhood he missed with the freedom he had. He surrounded himself with children and made his home an amusement park. Not "normal" behavior for a grown man but I truly believe it was harmless. But it made him an easy target.
I don't think he had much of a sexual capacity. After all, his introduction to sex was his brothers taking girls back to the room they all shared while on tour when he was about 7 years old. Nothing about this man's childhood was healthy psychologically. We should be grateful for how normal he actually did turn out. If you were to think about the most traumatic experience of your life and then imagine going through it with the whole world watching then you have an idea of what a fraction of his life was like. There is NO other artist who has ever lived that gave as much of their life to their art-form. There is also no other artist who has given more. Not only has Michael touched lives around the world and inspired millions but as the time of his death Michael Jackson held the Guinness World record for most charitable contributions. For this alone he deservers our honor and respect. I'd be lying if I said I never muttered or laughed at a Michael Jackson joke but as I had stated he made himself an easy target and it took time for me to see the truth behind it all.
Losing Michael made me think about how defining death is. Once you die, your story is told. There is nothing more you can contribute to the world. This fact made his demise even more tragic as he was about to contribute possibly his last tour. As I watched the filmed footage of "This Is It" I shook my head in sadness knowing that it would NEVER truly be experienced by anyone. Michaels last show would have been incredible. And that's where his story ended.
After leaving the restaurant I went back to my room, played "Human Nature" watched the news and… cried. My view of life had been altered, if Michael could die nothing was safe. Along with the world I morned. When I have children they will only have the legend. Until a year ago I had a living legend. I wish his presence could have continued. For me Michael was one of my heroes. He continues to inspire my art and my life. I could only dream of becoming a small fraction of the incredible artist he was. He's one of the greats, in the ranks of Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Elvis (say what you will about Elvis, he took over in his day).
I never met the man but I sure do miss him.

Is it good news or bad news?
…it's just new news.
So we made a new decision and now have a new game plan. The product that we want for our EP will take a lot of work to reach our high standards. So we have no set date for it. At this point it's possible that it won't be out until 2011. That may not be the case but we are going to work as long as it takes until it's really ready to be heard by the public.
In the meantime we will be releasing a mixtape later on this year that we just started work on. I don't want to give away any details at this point but it's gonna be something different.
I'm looking forward to the work on it and for it's release. I'm really excited right now.
Consider what you've heard on this blog thus far to be demo leaks. What's coming soon will be pretty awesome.

New Passenger Flow! Music: Sex Revisited!!!
Holy sh*t, Passenger Flow! has finally posted some new music!!!
We had a crazy long session that went from 4pm on Tuesday, to about 12:30pm today... but it was worth it. We have a finished product for you guys, and it came out pretty damn well if I may say so myself lol
So here it is, "Sex Revisited" by your boys PF!, along with the lovely Tiana Coles (who you will be hearing on a lot of collabo's with us)... we take our turn with Trey Songz "Invented Sex", and just have a bit of fun with it

I wrote this song…
On this day back in 07 I got on of my greatest moments of inspiration while riding the bus home. By the time I got home I had a masterpeice, a perfect description of where my heart is and why I do what I do. Some have heard it in spoken word form but the track will be featured on our upcoming "City Knights" album set for this fall. We're still hard at work trying to perfect our debut project "Passenger Flow! Presents: Dusk, The EP"

Wait, You're Serious?
I am really not a negative person, I really love art and have a great love and admiration for fellow artists. With that said, I'm blunt, I call things how I see them and when someone F^@#s up, I will call them out. So I have to highlight something else that has come to my attention that I can't resist commenting on.
This is the second time I've watched a video and thought is was a joke. (A dishonorable mention to Tahj Mowry's castration of the Boom Boom Satellites song "Kick It Out". I've already gone far enough with commentary on that song.) As the with first time, I got half way through the video and had to say out loud "wait, you're serious?".
3LW, 3 Little Women, A memory from my pubescent days. The videos, I don't remember much, the songs, even less. But the one thing I do remember the fact that I thought "the light skinded one with the gap" was cute. And of course thinking "If only she didn't have that gap she'd be BAD" and I could officially say I had a crush on her.
Kiely Williams, the reason why the group existed because is was her mother who formed it with the sole intention of creating a musical outlet for her daughter. By the time the Cheetah Girls formed I lost interest (maybe because she didn't fix the gap).
Anyway, after viewing Naturi Naughton's (of 3LW) performance as Lil' Kim in "Notorious" I figured it would be only a matter of time before Kiely would make an appearance.
I was right. As it turns out, unfortunately. She fixed her gap, that's about where the good news ends...
Mrs. Williams are you proud of what daughter has done with her musical outlet?
This looks like the opening credits to a sleazy HBO late night special.
I went from, "She'd be hot if it wasn't for that gap." to "She'd be hot if I didn't feel like I'd get VD from shaking her hand"
I know how some female artists try to be sexually empowering but this is just shit. What exactly are we glamorizing here? I have more respect for ACTUAL hookers.
On a less serious note, what the hell is up with the dude in the video. Ladies, is he sexy in any way? I mean if you are going to so desperately (and pathetically) sell sex, at least be convincing, use a model for goodness sake! Next, I love how she reflects on how great the sex was but then in the next breath says how she doesn't remember anything.
The highlight of the song has to be the line "I hope he used a rubber, or Imma be in trouble. Problem is I don't remember, except for rolling over"

It's quite ironic how this came through Nine Lives Entertainment, now I'd say they're down to seven and this surely didn't land on it's feet.
I must admit that this is the worst thing I have ever viewed but it does have some entertainment value because it is simply hilarious.

So What's Up?
I know a lot of you guys have been wondering what's going on. I'm sure you expected there to be some real release of music by now. Well the truth is, so have we. Passenger Flow! Music Coming Soon!!!
"Passenger Flow! Presents: Dusk, The EP" is 100% recorded!!! We are just waiting for it to be mixed and mastered and then the world get to hear our very 1st project!!! This is soooo crazy to me, I can't believe that this is really happening...
I'm so excited!!! (If you couldn't tell by all the exclamation points all over lol)... def can't wait for everyone to hear it!

About To Pop Off
Contrary to my last long post, if this one had a sound track it would be the LMFAO and Lil Jon song. (think about it) Speaking of which, I really enjoy their sound and I like the different sounds I'm seeing coming from some new artist. However, all can not be well, because while I observe a really original movement going on I am also forced to observe one that is much less original. I regret to acknowledge the RETURN OF GENERIC POP. I thought this was the case a while back but I was in denile. But now it's quite clear. Generic, standard, opiate of the masses pop music is making a comeback. I think the first song I heard was Iyaz's "Replay", but I thought maybe it was a fluke. Then, I heard Jay Sean's "Down". By the way, WTF! Really Cash Money?! 10 years ago you were like the grimiest label. NOW THIS! Talk about destroying street cred.
Anyway as if these to songs weren't bad enough, I came home one day and my brother was watching BET with a disgusted look on his face. On the screen was this video...
The first thing I thought was, "great, rip off one of my favorite videos.". I hope I wasn't the only one who noticed this immediately...
Jason Derulo, you suck.
I blame Chris Brown. His career is tarnished and they are putting out artists that sound like him (but make cornier songs). Why Chris is trying to make a comeback with a more bad ass image after beating his girlfriend I don't understand. I think they are tying to capitalize on the amount of respect he lost. Although Jason Derulo has some suspect lyrics: "you'll be screaming NO! …in my head, it's going down" Might be something Chris can relate to.
Whatever the reason is, this resurrection in music has instilled a great fear in me. I fear that 2010 will see the return of the dreaded "BOY BAND" [AAAAAHHHHHHH!]
No, I don't mean these guys.
They're the new Hanson, they're a real band. They actually play instruments (I'm not a fan of them either though). I mean the new N'SYNC, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, LFO, NKOTB, and the other acts that taught me the oh so important lesson in my younger days that music can actually sound bad.
To be honest, I did like N'SYNC and the song "Everybody (Backstreets Back)" (I was 12 and the video was hot, sue me) but everything else was pretty bad. I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm right I only hope it will open the door for a new R&B group. That could be cool. That's all I have to say about that. No matter what happens, I'll be watching with…

Big Week Ahead For PF!
So this is going to be a very important week in the timeline of Passenger Flow!'s career... will probably be considered the beginning actually... Jag and I have been doing our thing for a while now, but its pretty much all been about the behind the scenes stuff, meetings about our plans of action, home studio recording sessions, private rehearsals...
But now everything is about to go public...
"Passenger Flow! Presents: Dusk, The EP" is on the way, actually working on some production tweeks currently, so the finished product will be available very, very soon...
We are scheduled to hit up a radio show too, and our first ever Passenger Flow! performance is around the corner as well... We also have our mixtape features on President Jones' upcoming projects (shoutout Pres.J and the Mixtape-A-Month)...
Big things poppin with PF!, and if everything goes as it should, you will be hearing our name a bit more often haha... until then, guess we'll just keep living for each moment cause...

Allow Me to Introduce Myself, My Name Is...

Whats good ya'll? Its taken me a while to get my 1st post up here, but I figured I should do a little intro...
So basically this blog for me will be an outlet to get out my random thoughts and ideas, things that go on in my mind, how I view the world, my likes/dislikes... you get the picture...
Here are my some of my ultimate goals:

2. Photo-blog, I've always had an interest in photography, and sometimes when looking through a lens I see some pretty interesting things
3. Create videos, just got an editing program, so some new vids should be appearing on here randomly

The No Shot Zone Part 1
Welcome to the first installment of what I'm going to call "The No Shot Zone" these are times where I'm just going to call things how I see them. I'm not trying to hate or take shots at anyone mentioned in these posts but I will not hold back either. My thoughts, no filter, if someone gets offended it's too bad but I am NOT taking shots. Short and sweet
So, I'm chilling home on a Saturday night. Well, not just chilling, but working on mastering a song and listening to an instrumental I created that we'll be recording over tomorrow. I figured I'd take a second and jot something quick to keep this blog moving. I've been on another blog in the past and I tend to write what could be called short essays if given an interesting enough topic. I'll try not to go in like that on this blog but if something strikes my passion, you have been warned. So don't be suprised if there is a whole page rant one day by Jag. New PF! Music: Spaceship!!!
Tonight was Grammy night, and it was a pretty spectacular event. Watching it from home this year, hopefully we'll be in attendance next time...
